Zebra blinds, also known as dual-layer roller blinds, are a practical choice for many homes and commercial spaces. Unlike traditional curtains, which rely on fabric to block light, or Venetian blinds, which adjust light through angled slats, zebra blinds use two layers of polyester fabric with alternating sheer and opaque stripes. By adjusting the position of the fabric, you can control how much light enters the room and create the atmosphere you prefer.
From our experience on the factory floor, customers often ask about light-blocking performance, fabric colors, installation dimensions, and the differences between manual and motorized operation. These questions may seem simple, but choosing the right product depends on your windows and how you plan to use the blinds.
1. Double-Layer Polyester Fabric for Flexible Light Control
Zebra blinds are made from two layers of polyester fabric with alternating sheer and opaque stripes. Adjusting the fabric changes how the two layers overlap, allowing you to regulate the amount of light entering the room and achieve your preferred lighting effect.
During the day, you can align the sheer sections to let natural light into the room. When you want to reduce sunlight, you can adjust the fabric so that the opaque sections overlap.
Please keep in mind that light-blocking performance depends on the fabric selected. Different fabric specifications provide different levels of light control. If light reduction is a priority, we recommend confirming the fabric’s light-blocking rating before choosing a model.
2. Multiple Light-Blocking Options from 60% to 90%
Different rooms have different lighting requirements. Living rooms usually benefit from natural light, while bedrooms may require greater light reduction. That’s why we offer several light-blocking options: 60%, 70%, 75%, 80%, and 90%.
Multiple fabric colors are also available, making it easier to coordinate the blinds with your walls, furniture, and overall interior design.
We also pay close attention to product dimensions during manufacturing. Zebra blinds are available in various specifications, with a maximum manufacturing width of up to 2.5 meters. The actual available dimensions depend on the product model, window measurements, fabric specifications, and installation conditions.
3. Top-Mount and Side-Mount Installation
Installation is another important factor to consider when choosing zebra blinds.
Top-mount installation: The mounting brackets are fixed to the top of the window opening or the ceiling. This method is suitable when sufficient installation space is available. Generally, at least 7 cm of width is required for installation.
Side-mount installation: The mounting brackets are fixed to the side of the window frame or another suitable side surface. This option is useful when side fixing is more appropriate for the window structure.
Both methods have their own applications. Before placing an order, we recommend measuring the window width and height and checking the available mounting space. Window handles, protruding walls, and other obstructions should also be considered to ensure smooth operation.
4. Manual Bead-Chain or Motorized Operation
Our zebra blinds support two operating methods: manual bead-chain control and motorized operation.
The manual version is operated using a bead chain. Its straightforward design makes it a practical option for homes, rental properties, and projects where budget is an important consideration.
The motorized version offers greater convenience, especially for high windows, hard-to-reach areas, or spaces where several blinds need to be controlled more easily. The specific motor and control configuration should be confirmed according to the selected model.
Motorized systems are also commonly used in smart homes, where compatible equipment can allow blinds to be integrated into a smart-home control system. Compatibility depends on the motor and control system selected.
For bulk orders or commercial projects, you can provide your window dimensions, preferred installation method, and control requirements so we can check the appropriate product specifications.

5. Choose Zebra Blinds Based on Your Actual Needs
From our perspective on the factory floor, there is no need to choose the highest light-blocking rating or the most complicated configuration simply because it is available. Living rooms, bedrooms, and offices have different requirements, so the right fabric and operating method will vary from one project to another.
We offer a range of fabric colors, light-blocking options, and sizes, with top-mount and side-mount installation, as well as manual bead-chain and motorized operation. The maximum manufacturing width is 2.5 meters, subject to the specifications of the selected model and the actual requirements.
If you are a curtain retailer, soft furnishing company, interior designer, or project buyer, please share your required dimensions, preferred colors, light-blocking rating, and order quantity. We can check the specifications and provide a quotation based on your requirements.
There is no single best option for every space. The right choice is the one that suits your windows, daily needs, and interior design style.
